Bobong
Lacanilao-Cutiongco Bobong, more known as Obelia, during our high school days, got married to Edgar a.k.a. Cutchie Cutiongco in 1993.They are blessed with a daughter named Danielle. If you still remember, Bobong was Edgar's date during the JS Prom at Aberdeen Court, and they met again during the preparation of the 10th anniversary reunion in 1991. Bobong graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Drama. As a Private Trainor for Schools and Companies and a full-time private tutor , Bobong still finds time to organize big events such as our Batch Reunion, and manages to write almost every batchmate via email. Having been a stage actress during her college days and a classroom teacher for children in a private institution, Bobong has become more creative and artistic in her field of training. This talent of hers is something she selflessly shares with us as she organizes our Reunion in 2001 as early as NOW. That's how enthusiastic, detailed , and organized she is. Keep it Up, Bobong! |
Rolando Perez Rolly presently lives in San Jose, California. He met Arcie Santos in college in 1983 and tied the knot in December 1989. They are blessed with 3 children, 2 girls and a boy, named Abbey, Allie and Justin. He graduated in 1987 at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He helped in the family business for 5 years and then moved to California in 1992 where he had a career change and became a certified histologist (HT-ASCP). Rolly has fond memories of high school, he cherishes his storied relationship with valued friends. His high school world revolved around friends, that is why he finds his SULYAP write-up to be very true to its words. |
Leloy Santos Cuyugan Leloy is a very candid, straight-forward, honest-to-goodness person who speaks his heart out. He never runs out of wacky ways in bringing up to the group stories in the past which involved him or other people. He is by nature - An Expert Story Teller of the silly things he did during high school and college days. Leloy joined the academe a year after he graduated from college. Before he became part of the UP Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts in Diliman, he was a Special Assistant to then Vice President Salvador Laurel way back in the 80s. Leloy joined the faculty rank and stayed there for a good TEN YEARS. He earned his Master of Arts Degree also in Speech in 1995 and since then got into many endeavors that of course spelled money !! He also briefely joined Philippine Airlines and was a Training Specialist training cabin crew members how to properly say PHILIPPINE AIRLINES. He is so adventurous that he migrated to the States without knowing what was there for him. He lives in Texas and is a staff member of the North Texas Job Corps of Vinnell Corporation. As to what to do from here he does not have the foggiest idea but he does intend to finish up his academic career in a good university. Being part of the EMPS is indeed an honor for Leloy. Hey, he happens to be one of the founding members :) |
Lovel Untalan Tyre is one of those guys whose personality may be as diverse as day and night. He is the mild mannered, self employed graphic designer who runs his own advertising agency. His other persona is an adventurous, risk- taking mountaineer and rock climber. His being a father to little Miguel and husband to Cecile, a Pediatrician and Asst. Professor does not deter him from fantasies of reaching the peak of Mount Everest. He is presently engrossed in his new past time of learning Mandarin to enchance his business relations. He graduated from Univ. of the Phil. with a degree in Bachelor in Fine Arts and has since worked at a variety of jobs including with major TV networks such as Channel 2,5 and 13. He also had a stint as a creative consultant at the Philippine Convention & Visitor's Corporation as well as being an Art Director for a now defunct magazine. Presently he has his own Graphic Design Studio based at his residence, thus making him always near his growing family. He is also an avid internet user and contributor to our batch's web page, coming up with innovative spots such as batch trivia. You'll surely hear more from him on-line because his overactive imagination always comes up with new ways to entertain our batch. |
Babara Gay Barcelo Harcketts Babs' fave expressions in high school were "Bahala na" and "Who cares?" But that's just what they were - expressions. Or so we hoped. . . . After graduating with a BA in English in 1996 from UP Diliman, Babs became a research assistant for Radio Veritas. She went on to become an ESL teacher at the Philippine Refugee Processing Center in Bataan alongside UPIS' very own Social Studies teacher Mr. Edilberto Espiritu (who, by the way, scolded her for calling him "Sir" instead of "Ed"). Babs has also had stints as Project Evaluation Officer for DENR, Assistant Store Manager of a pastry shop in Washington, DC, and travel agent. She is currently an Information Technology Officer at The World Bank in Washington, DC, which is a half-hour subway commute from Fairfax, Virginia where she has lived for the past 6 years. Quite the world traveler, Babs has visited over a dozen countries in North and South America, The Bahamas and Carribean, Asia, and Europe. While visiting Honolulu, Hawaii in 1991, Babs found an interesting souvenir: future hubby Dennis Harcketts, whom she married in April of 1994. When not in the office, sight-seeing, or making the rounds of her UPIS barkada now scattered about, Babs keeps busy with her plant and orchid collection, reading, and fiddling with her computer. |
Augusto Lingao, Jr. Between the two universal forces of Yin and Yang, Jun's character make-up is more "Yin"---modest, toned-down, composed, self-effacing. Despite, his largely "benign" persona, there is something remarkably disarming about him which many have already discovered, regardless of whatever gender they belong to. Might be his finely chiseled "gentleman farmer" features(kutis magsasaka), or perhaps his many personable qualities that endear him to many, again, regardless of whatever gender they belong to. Best thing about him, though, is that he builds upon these qualities, constantly working towards self-betterment and the improvement of his craft. For example, since starting out as a mere salesman a few years ago, he has already handled several positions in various capacities as Sales, Finance and Administration Managers. To top it all, he has recently earned his MBA from the Ateneo. In view of it all, Jun does not need to improve on his role as a friend or put more work at it. For it is in this area where he has long achieved perfection. He has been one of the more active batchmates on-line and finds satisfaction in sending everyone forwarded letters about Modus Operandi, Restaurant Scams, Psychological Tests , etc... Here's to Jun, a man and friend who believes that next to God, the most powerful thing in this universe is testosterone. |
Bobbit Casareo Another stand-out among the seniors. With Bobbit's towering height, it's impossible for anybody not to notice him. This of course still holds true up to now, though this was part of his write-up written some 18 years ago. When he came over to Manila in December of 1998, he was faced with the question: Bobbit, matangkad ka pa ba? And he stands up proudly to show that he is still the same Bobbit we knew in high school, but this time with a more serious mission in life. Not to smell the flowers and stoop to see the insects, but to search for greener pasteurs in "The Land Down Under." Bobbit migrated to Australia in 1991,and now works as an SMT Machine Operator at Alcatel. What he enjoys most is cooking for his family, and sharing with the Email Pals Club the recipes of the dishes and desserts he has tried himself. He's a man of few words - on email - but when he starts banging on the computer, he wouldn't have 2nd thoughts of sending you that Rumblin' document that made all of us dizzy from the aftershocks it created. Thanks Bobbit, for your recipes, your not-so-funny jokes, and for being part of the Email Pals Club! |
